And here we go with the third volume of the extraordinary Mars series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Although not published in book form until 1919, this work was written between June 7, 1913 to July 8, 1913. It was Ed's ninth work - he'd only been writing "professionally" since 1911. Once Ed discovered that he could make writing pay, he plunged full steam ahead and maintained an amazing work flow. By the time of Warlord, Ed had already created three amazing franchises - Tarzan of the Apes, Mars and Pellucidar, the Inner World. All this at a time when World War I had not yet broken out - and modern mechanized warfare was completely beyond anyone's imagining - except perhaps the imagination of Edgar Rice Burroughs.
